Six's thermometer is a thermometer which can measure the maximum and minimum temperature during a given time, devised by James Six in 1782.
The maximum thermometer of the Six's thermometer is made of mercury and a metal index floating on top. When temperature rises, the mercury expands and the index is pushed upwards. When the temperature falls, the mercury contracts and the mercury level falls but the index stays in its position.
The minimum thermometer of the Six's thermometer is made of alcohol and a metal index. When the temperature cools, the alcohol drags down the index where it remains, even though the temperature rises.
A magnet is used to reset the thermometer's metal indicators.
The Range of the thermometer is from -30°C to 50°C
