Climbing coconut trees is a time honored skill in the tropics.  It is the only way to get young coconuts which are highly nutritious and provide valuable liquids. In a survival situation, knowing how to climb trees could save your life!

Practicar su habilidad de trepar árboles un número de veces en un árbol de 10 a 15 pies (3 a 4 metros) de altura.

Subir un árbol de coco de 20 pies (7 metros) de altura. Demostrar la manera de llegar al suelo con seguridad.

Hacer lo siguiente:


3a

Trepar un árbol usando cualquiera de los cuatro métodos comunes.

Describir los otros métodos en detalle para el instructor.

El instructor debe seleccionar los árboles apropiados para el trepado, uno con bastantes ramas, el otro un árbol de coco. Cada persona debe demostrar en cada uno de los dos árboles sobre la forma de aplicar los dos métodos de trepar árboles (salto en cuclillas y el estilo mono).

Demostrar cómo se llevan con seguridad un cuchillo y un hacha en un árbol.

Completar lo siguiente:

Trepar un árbol de coco demostrando cómo llevarse una bolsa.



6b

Remover un coco sin necesidad de utilizar un cuchillo o instrumento utilizando sólo sus extremidades y volver a la tierra con él en su bolsa.

Saber cómo remover una persona lesionada de un árbol.
