layering invleves a stem or shoot to from roots while still attached to the parent plant. the stem is pegged down in contact with the soil until roots develop. some plants do this naturaly when their stems touch the ground. advatages of layering - new plants are supported by getting nutrients and water from the parent plant. - the successs rate is greater with plants that are difficult to propogate from cuttings.
