1. Make a scrapbook to include the following information. Use pictures, maps, or drawings to make it attractive.*

2. Name the state and the year it joined the union.

Colorado became a state on the 1st of August of 1876, the 38th state to join the Union.

3. Draw or find a picture of the following:

a. State flower

The Colorado state flower is the Rocky Mountain Columbine (Aquilegia saximontana), also known as Alpine Dwarf Columbine, Dwarf Blue Columbine, or Alpine Columbine.

The Colorado state bird is the Lark Bunting (Calamospiza melanocorys).

c. State tree

The Colorado state tree is the Blue Spruce (Picea pungens), also known as Colorado spruce, green spruce, white spruce or Colorado blue spruce.

The Colorado state animal is the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep (Ovis canadensis).

4. Name the state song and motto.

Colorado has two state songs: "Where the Columbines Grow" written and composed by A.J. Fynn, and was adopted on May 8, 1915; "Rocky Mountain High" written by John Denver and Mike Taylor.

The motto is "Nil sine numine" (Nothing without providence)

5. Draw a map and show the capital, major cities, rivers, and lakes.

6. Name the national parks and three state parks.

9. Name the Seventh-day Adventist conference president.

10. Name the city where the conference office is located.
