1. Make a scrapbook to include the following information. Use pictures, maps, or drawings to make it attractive.*
2. Name the state and the year it joined the union.
Ohio became a state on the 1st of March of 1803, the 17th state to join the Union.
3. Draw or find a picture of the following:
a. State flower
The Ohio state flower is the Scarlet Carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus).
b. State bird
The Ohio state bird is the Cardinal (Cardinalidae).
c. State tree
The Ohio state tree is the Ohio Buckeye (Aesculus glabra).
d. State animal
The Ohio state animal is the White-tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus).

The Ohio state song is "Beautiful Ohio", written by Ballard MacDonald and composed by Mary Earl (whose real name was Robert A. King).
