Guide/Nature Study



Requirement 1

Read the story of Jesus’ childhood in The Desire of Ages, ch. 7, and relate it to the place of nature study in His education and ministry by giving orally before an audience an original nature lesson (parable) drawn from your observations.



You can read The Desire of Ages chapter 7 online or find a hard copy of the book in any Adventist Church or School.


Requirement 2

Spiders/Rocks and Minerals

  • Complete a spider web study project.

OR

  • Collect and identify 15 different kinds of rocks and minerals.


The spider web study meets several requirements in the Spiders Honor.

The rock and mineral collection meets Requirement 2 of the Rocks and Minerals Honor. Complete either of these Honors and meet the Frontier Guide requirement 5 as well.

Requirement 4

Ecology/Fungi

  • List 10 ways in which you might actively work to improve the environment in which you live. Put four into practice.

OR

  • Photograph or draw 15 different fungi and correctly identify them.


Option 1 parallels requirement 8 of the Ecology Honor where you can find a long list of ideas.

Option 2 meets Requirement 2 of the Fungi Honor. For tips see the Honor page.


Requirement 5

Complete a nature honor, not previously earned. (Skill level 2 or 3)


Completing Fungi (Skill Level 2) would be a good choice if you choose to do the fungi collection above.

Completing the Rocks and Minerals Honor and Spiders Honor (Both Skill Level 2) would also be good choices.
