1. Have a 1/25000 map of your area and :

a. identify all signs and symbols;

b. describe the terrain from the map

c. measure and estimate distances on the map

d. give the coordinates of a point

2. Have a good compass and know how to :

a. orient the map

b. make a sight

c. determine where you are on the map

3. On the field :

a. use map and compass to navigate unfamiliar terrain without difficulty

b. make a sight at night from a distance of about 1km

c. go around an obstacle without deviating from your sight

d. follow an orientation trail prepared by the chef

e. organize an orienteering race involving sighting, coordinates and obstacle contours

4. Finding your way without a compass by

a. The stars

b. The nature

c. A watch

5. Know how to program the route on a GPS and follow its directions
