His grandfather was the oldest man who ever died (969 years). His great-grandfather was oldest man to ever live (he lived 300 years on earth and then walked into Heaven with God).

3. Why did Noah find “grace” in God’s sight? Gen. 6:9, Heb. 11:7

Noah was a sinner like the rest of us, but he still led a life of faith. He followed the commands of the Lord through God’s grace (or favor). Noah was a righteous man.

4. How old was Noah when his sons were born? Name them. Gen. 5:32

5. How long did it take to finish the ark? What were its measurements (in either cubits or feet) and of what material was it constructed? Gen. 6: 3,14, & 15

120 years. 300 (450 feet) cubits long by 50 (75 feet) cubits wide by 30 (45 feet) cubits high, and it was to be made out of gopher or cypress wood covered with pitch.

6. Why did God ask Noah to build the ark? Gen. 6:11-21

The earth had become so corrupt that God decided to destroy it and save only Noah and his family and some animals. He would use a flood of water to destroy the earth and Noah needed a boat to be saved in.

7. How old was Noah when the flood started? How high did the floodwaters rise? Gen. 7: 6 & 20

600 years old. 15 cubits (more than 20 feet) above the highest mountain.

8. How many of each kind of animal entered the ark? Did God differentiate between clean and unclean animals at that time? If so, how? Gen. 7: 2 & 3

Two (male and female) of every animal and seven of the clean animals. In addition God asked him to keep seven of every bird.

9. How long were Noah and his family and the animals inside the ark before God opened the door? Gen. 7:1,4,10,11 & 8:14

One year and 17 days.

10. What was the sign of the covenant that God made with Noah and his sons, and what was the covenant? Gen. 9:9-16

A rainbow was a sign of the covenant God made with Noah to never destroy the whole earth with a flood of waters.

11. How old was Noah when he died? Gen. 9:29

950 years.

12. What evidence can you find that the flood destroyed the entire world? Gen. 7:19

The Bible says that all the high mountains everywhere were covered.

13. Read Patriarchs and Prophets (PP) chapters 7 & 8 and Genesis 5:1, 9:17.

By reading the assigned reading, the answers to the above questions will be answered and you will gain an understanding of who Noah was and why God decided to destroy the world.

14. How did Noah know when it was time to leave the ark? Gen. 6:6 and PP p. 97, 98

Noah had sent out a raven and a dove to see what they would do and sent out the dove a second time. Also, God told him that it was time to leave the ark and He opened the door for them.

15. What is the correlation between Noah and the ark and the end of the world? PP p.98

God shut the door of the ark and He will shut the door of mercy at the end of the world.
