"Sleepers" are sometimes called "Pullman cars" in the United States because of the Pullman Company that manufactured a great deal of them beginning in the mid-1800's. Some beds are designed to either roll or fold out of the way or convert into seats for daytime use, while some sleeping compartments look like small personal apartments with their own bathrooms.<br />
