Overview
Romans 10:17 tells us that "Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ." Hearing the words of Christ, thus, is central to the fulfillment of the Great Commision and in today's world. More often than not, this hearing involves the use of electronic means to amplify, record and broadcast the words of Christ.
This particular honor will provide some of the basic skills and knowledge which will enable the participant to be able to perform the function of an audio technician in their local church community. It provides a unique opportunity to provide skills in an area which many young people have a passion for and an interest in.
The Challenging Part
The most challenging requirement of this honor is probably this:
4. Select an audio system that you will learn on and demonstrate the skills described in the next section of this honor. This audio system can be your local church/school sound system, a sound system used by your local conference for Pathfinder events or a system that the instructor has. It should consist of, at minimum: several microphones, a mixer, an amplifier, an auxiliary audio source and loudspeakers.
- a. Be able to properly set up this sound system, keeping in mind the principles of microphone placement and running a sound check.
- b. Be able to properly take down this sound system.
- c. Draw a block diagram of how the sound system elements are connected to each other, showing the signal paths.
