1. Learn the rules of guard duty.

2. At camp (bivouac), perform guard duty without reproach for a total of at least two hours at night and one hour during the day.

3. Learn and practice the emergency system operating at camp.

4. Participate at least once in exercises to test the camp's operational efficiency during an intruder alarm and/or fire alarm (camp evacuation).

5. Explain what the honor guard is and how it differs from guard duty during camp.

6. Discuss the importance of guard duty for the safety of people and property within the camp (bivouac).


7. Participate in at least five games/exercises to improve alertness and observation skills.


8. Discuss the meaning of the following Biblical verses and how they relate to guard duty and staying spiritually alert:

a. Mark 13:33-37

b. 1 Peter 5:8-9

c. Nehemiah 4:7-23

9. Explain in your own words what the Pathfinder cry means: "Watch, Maranatha!"
