A satellite is an object that orbits a planet. There are two basic types of satellites: natural, and artificial. Our Moon is a natural satellite, and all the planets beyond Earth's orbit have them as well (we keep discovering more and more of them, so it's hard to put a number on it). The other type of satellite is an artificial satellite, and these are most often used for communications (think satellite TV dishes). | A satellite is an object that orbits a planet.
