1. Have the Swimming 3 (Intermediate) honour.
2. Know and practice the following safety rules:
- a. Never kneeboard at night.
- b. Never kneeboard during an electrical storm.
- c. Always wear an approved life vest.
- d. Check to be sure the vest buckle is securely locked.
- e. Demonstrate that you can undo the strap over your knees while upside down in the water.
- f. Make sure the tow rope is in good condition.
- g. Make sure the kneeboard is in working condition.
- h. Have a spotter on the water craft.
- i. Stay clear of objects, such as other skiers, swimmers, docks, or floating objects.
- j. If a fall occurs, let go of the rope and raise your hand to signal you are ok.
- k. Do not stand on the water craft while it is moving.
3. Know the following hand signals:
- a. Speed Up.
- b. Slow Down.
- c. Turn.
- d. Back to shore.
- e. Cut Motor.
- f. OK after all.
- g. Stop.
- h. All OK.
4. Get on the kneeboard in deep water. Execute a deep water start and get up on your knees with a full-line rope.
5. Successfully cross both wakes.
6. Know the different types of kneeboards available and the features of a kneeboard.
