1. Have the Swimming 3 (Intermediate) honour.
2. Know and practice the following safety rules:
- a. Never kneeboard at night.
- b. Never kneeboard during an electrical storm.
- c. Always wear an approved life vest.
- d. Check to be sure the vest buckle is securely locked.
- e. Demonstrate that you can undo the strap over your knees while upside down in the water.
- f. Never kneeboard during an electrical storm.
- g. Never kneeboard at night.
- h. Never kneeboard during an electrical storm.
- i. Never kneeboard at night.

3. Know the following hand signals:
