2. Learn how to properly build a shelter in a wetland.
3. List at least six characteristics that a good shelter site should have.
4. Learn how building shelters/huts can negatively affect wildlife and where camping is prohibited by law.
5. Build a ground-based camp bed and a tree/freestanding camp bed.
6. Build at least three types of shelters (e.g., single-pitched, gable-pitched, and wigwam). The shelter should consist of a lightweight wooden structure and materials such as a canopy, tarp, etc.
7. Properly pitch, secure (e.g., against rain), and take down a camping tent yourself.
8. With a group of at least five people, build a temporary shelter on a platform, for one to three people. Use available materials to build the shelter, including poles, a tent pole, and a tarp. The maximum time to complete the task is six hours.
