2

Learn how to properly build a shelter in a wetland.

3

List at least six characteristics that a good shelter site should have.

4

Learn how building shelters/huts can negatively affect wildlife and where camping is prohibited by law.

5

Build a ground-based camp bed and a tree/freestanding camp bed.

6

Build at least three types of shelters (e.g., single-pitched, gable-pitched, and wigwam). The shelter should consist of a lightweight wooden structure and materials such as a canopy, tarp, etc.

7

Properly pitch, secure (e.g., against rain), and take down a camping tent yourself.

8

With a group of at least five people, build a temporary shelter on a platform, for one to three people. Use available materials to build the shelter, including poles, a tent pole, and a tarp. The maximum time to complete the task is six hours.

9

Spend at least one night in the shelter you built in steps #6 or #8.

10

Build a quick, temporary shelter for at least two (up to eight) people, using two, four, or more tent poles.
