4. How can a false prophet be identified?
- Matthew 7:16 - 20
7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither [can] a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
- Isaiah 8:20 To the Law of God and to the testimony that comes from their mouth and they say it is from God and if God be not glorified and self abased then they are not a true prophet there is only one other kind of prophet and that is a false prophet. most talk smooth things and do not give God the glory due him.
When a person talks of self and what self wants and self desires then they can not be a true prophet and one who prophecies without God telling him to prophecy is not a true prophet. If what they say contradicts God's word they are not a true prophet.
