Advantages

  • Improved abrasion-resistance
  • Better UV-resistance
  • Lighter
  • Length does not vary as much when wet
  • Rot-resistant

Disadvantages

  • Some synthetics do not hold knots well
  • More slippery
  • Melts when heated
  • Stretches more than natural ropes.
