1. Explain the importance of keeping the camp and camporee kitchen safe and prepare a checklist of precautions to be taken in each case.
2. Read the vote "Guidelines on food in official Adventist Church institutions or programs" and explain the importance of following this vote in Pathfinder Club camps and camporees.
3. Know how to avoid food/water poisoning at a camp or camporee.
4. Regarding possible emergencies that may occur in a camp or camporee kitchen, complete the following items:
- a. Know the first aid given to burn victims.
- b. Demonstrate the proper maneuver if a victim is choking.
- c. Know the emergency telephone numbers to call for the fire department and mobile medical service in case of emergencies.
- d. Explain what type of fire extinguisher is suggested for possible fires in camps and camporees and explain why.
- e. Check if there are flammable products in the camp or camporee kitchen and store them correctly.
5. Know and demonstrate what precautions should be taken when preparing a campfire for cooking, including:
- a. Gathering firewood
- b. Preparing the campfire site
- c. Lighting the fire
- d. Wind
- e. Securing the base for the pot
- f. Preparing the food
- g. Removing the pot from the fire
- h. Disposing of the campfire
6. Complete the following items:
- a. Know the necessary precautions to take with the gas hose, regulator, and cylinder.
- b. Explain the risks of transporting a gas cylinder.
- c. Explain the importance of performing periodic maintenance on stoves and ovens.
- d. Explain the precautions to take with pressure cookers to avoid accidents.
7. Know how to correctly use a camping stove and mention the precautions to take when using it.
8. Apply the checklist developed in requirement 1 in a camp kitchen or camporee.
