Overview
This honour provides a solid understanding of topographical maps and the practical use of a magnetic compass. It does not address electronic systems such as GPS. You will learn mapping topics such as contour intervals, grid systems, grid north, magnetic north, declination and more. This honour will open up a whole new world for you!
The Challenging Part
The most challenging requirement of this honor is probably this:
- 4.3. Prove your ability in the use of a map and compass by following a cross-country course with at least ten given readings or control points.
