Banned in several US states, but a common pet in Europe. Often refered to as "dwarf" hamsters, they are actually slightly bigger than these. Notable features include a small tail (up to .5"), making them a mouse like hamster. First bred in the UK by the University of Birmingham, which first recorded the platium hamster mutation.
