Investiture Achievement To Do List

The investiture achievements are nearly 100% usable but there are still a few areas that could use some work to provide more complete answers. As an area is completed please add DONE to the list below. Add any other areas you spot too.

All levels Personal growth sections are all 100%

Friend Spiritual Discovery R3 needs expansion R4 Add dark day, Lisbin Earthquake, stars falling

Companion spiritual discovery R3. Need skits

Explorer SD 4a needs expansion

Ranger SD. R3 some of the vows need explanations R7 Lying needs to be expanded.

NAD vs not NAD

A lot of work has been invested in making the IA pages usable outside the NAD (especially in relation to the ACS/ADRA honors). Back in the AY days there were few such problems, as the NAD and GC had very similar curriculum definitions. In recent times, the NAD completely redid the curriculum (creating IA), and the GC followed later. In other words, the GC now has an updated "Achievement" curriculum which is significantly different from the NAD's IA.

The GC material can be found at http://www.gcyouthministries.org/Ministries/Pathfinders/AchievementClasses/tabid/87/Default.aspx

In my work on the honor answers, I found that when the NAD and GC were similar, it worked OK to interleave both sets of requirements in a single page. But when they differed by a greater degree, it was better to create multiple pages. The GC/NAD difference we have on the Achievement pages easily crosses that threshold.

If we want to add GC Achievement pages to this Wiki, we really need to create them as a set of alternate pages. It does not make sense to try to squeeze them together in the same space. Because of this, I propose that we remove all the "outside NAD" sections, and simplify these pages.

As we build out the GC pages, we can redo the main IA page to allow the visitor to select between GC and NAD (with NAD as the default). --Jomegat (talk) 18:40, 12 December 2014 (EST)

Sounds good. I was not aware the GC decided to update and adopt much of the NAD curricula. How long ago did this happen? -- w126jep (talk) 22:35, 12 December 2014 (EST)
I don't know when they updated, but I wouldn't say that they adopted the NAD's curriculum. I have not studied it closely to see what exactly they changed from AY other than that they now call them Achievement Classes. --Jomegat (talk) 08:01, 13 December 2014 (EST)
I had no idea there was NAD vs GC class work. I was trying to globalize the answers to the questions presented, never checking if there was a variation in requirements. The GC requirements are substantially different, including different section headings and other major variations. We should set up a separate index page and requirement pages for GC and clearly label IA as being NAD only. Where there is overlap, we can translude answers. We should also modify the IA box I put on the Honors to say something about IA NAD. Create a similar box to insertion on honor pages for GC Achievement level tie ins - which will go on some of the same Honors and a few different ones. I also note that the GC just call the Advanced requirements for the ribbon Advanced rather than the silly Trail Friend etc names. I really want to make this resource usable worldwide. JadeDragon
Before we cross link the honors with GC/NAD classwork, I would like to take some time to carefully study the problem. It would be easy to do the first thing that comes to mind, and that could make a big mess. We might also want to wait until we see how the NAD reacts to the SAD honors. If we end up with division tabs, we could selectively display NAD or GC rather than displaying both.
As for transcluding sections, I think that would best be done with the labeled sections approach I worked on last month. --Jomegat (talk) 17:31, 13 December 2014 (EST)

Yup, the Achievement Classwork home page is all setup with the correct redlinks. I don't know ho to setup the requirements so they are not editable, so that's as far as I can go at the moment. JadeDragon (talk) 21:29, 13 December 2014 (EST)

Nice work! To create non-editable requirements, just create them on their own page using the Template:Requirement (first argument is the text, second is the requirement number). Then mark the page as protected (that's available to admins under the drop-down triangle along the top). Finally, transclude them into the section page. --Jomegat (talk) 21:35, 13 December 2014 (EST)

Investiture achievement site

Is it just me, or did the site go down over the weekend?--Ixoekea (talk) 17:45, 28 May 2018 (EDT)

I noticed that too. But it's up and running again. Whatever happened must have been fixed. --w126jep (talk) 16:42, 29 May 2018 (EDT)

InvestitureAchievement.com

So now that InvestitureAchievement.com basically just links to the Wiki IA, I think we need to seriously perform an "audit" and make sure that all requirements are up-to-date and there are no broken or outdated links. I know that some minor changes were made here and there regarding corrections in the curricula (such as incorrect honors), I can only hope the PDFs uploaded to the IA website are the correct ones, since that is probably what we'll be comparing them to. Sooner would be better than later because I believe more and more people are going to start migrating this way as Oshkosh nears. --w126jep (talk) 19:07, 19 December 2018 (EST)
