Discuss the safe use of pioneer tools: saw, axe, shovel/spade, hammer, knife.

Discuss the principles of building wooden and wooden-rope structures (ex. bridges).

Build any camp equipment that requires at least 3 hours of independent work or, in the case of a more advanced design, more hours of work in a group.

Demonstrate woodworking skills by performing the following tasks:

Build three pieces of camp equipment (independently or in a group) using at least two different assembly techniques: rope (knots), notches and nails. Techniques can be combined.

Discuss and demonstrate the principles of tool maintenance and proper sharpening of an axe and knife.
