AY Honor Jesus II - My Savior Requirements
1. Read the following passages that cover the basic narrative of Jesus as our Savior. You may listen to audio, watch video/stream of the stories or simply read from the Bible translation of your choice.
- Birth (Matthew 2 or Luke 2:1-20)
- Last Supper & Footwashing (John 13 and either Matthew 26:17-29 or 1 Corinthians 11:23-25)
- The Garden (Matthew 26:36-46)
- Trials (Matthew 27:1-44 or John 18:28-19:16)
- Death (Matthew 27:45-66 or John 19:17-42)
- Burial of Jesus (Matthew 27:57-66; Mark 15:42-47; Luke 23:50-56 or John 19:38-42)
- Resurrection (Matthew 28:1-9 or John 20:1-18)
- Ascension (Acts 1:4-11)
2. In one sentence, explain why Jesus is called The Savior. Consult 1 John 4:14 and Luke 4:25-26 or similar Savior/Messiah passages as you develop your sentence.
- Individually or as a group, list your "top 10" Bible texts that explain clearly how one can believe that Jesus is our Savior. You may use Bible texts from the gospels or other places in the New Testament.
3. Read the following Bible verses about Jesus as your Savior and discuss or explain what they mean to you personally:
4. On a Biblical era map of Jerusalem, be able to quickly find at least five spots relevant to the events in the final week of Jesus’ life.
5. Individually or as a group, read from the book Steps to Christ (or Steps to Jesus) at least one of the following chapters. Share three phrases or thoughts you found to be important for yourself:
- Chapter 3: Repentance
- Chapter 4: Confession
- Chapter 5: Consecration
- Chapter 6: Faith and Acceptance
6. Choose one scene from the "passion" of Jesus (see requirement 1) to illustrate creatively:
- Skit
- Reader’s theater
- Song (song service or write your own)
- Charade
- Diorama (and tell the story)
- Photo essay (and tell the story)
- Art project (and tell the story)
7. Participate in a Lord’s Supper (Communion service) and/or Agape Feast. Share with an adult, who is a leader in your church, something significant that you observed about the service.
