1. Your national cuisine.
- a. Know at least 10 dishes of your national cuisine (name, where it is prepared, what it looks like, a short description). Make a slideshow on your smartphone or make a homemade menu with pictures of these dishes.
- b. What dishes of your national cuisine are in the national cuisines of neighboring countries and what are they called there? (for example: Pierogi in Poland, Varenyky in Ukraine)
- c. Explain a bit about the national ingredients and authentic cooking methods (for example, for Ukraine - cooking in an oven in baking pots, for Georgia - the stovetop, for Thailand - baking food on coals wrapped in banana leaves).
- d. Know the recipes of at least three dishes of your cuisine in detail.
- e. Prepare three dishes of your cuisine and decorate the table in the national style (for example, for Ukrainian cuisine, some of the following: towels, clay pots, dishes in ethnic style, bouquets of marigolds and viburnum, a tablecloth; unusual cutlery of the country you have chosen, elements of national clothing can help you decorate the table). This task can be done as a group.
2. The cuisine of a neighboring country of your choice, one of the countries that is a geographical neighbor and one country somewhere far from you (i.e. choose two countries).
- a. Explain some of the peculiarities of the cuisine. What ingredients are popular in this country?
- b. Decorate the table in the national style and serve three dishes from the cuisine that you have chosen. Prepare the dishes yourself (i.e. a total of six dishes - a neighboring country and another non-neighboring country of your choice, plus separate table decoration for both).
3. Do your own research on the national cuisine of the Israelite people at the time of Christ. What did the common people of that time eat? Part of that cuisine was the Passover Seder. How did the Passover Seder remind the children of Israel of Egyptian slavery and point to the coming of the Messiah? Prepare a Passover Seder and ask the pastor/elder of your church to share the story of the Exodus during the Passover Seder (it doesn't have to be on Passover) and how the Exodus story can help us better understand the plan of redemption and our journey to the Kingdom of God.
