::Thanks. If/when we decide to include the conference honors in the counting logic, the pages for each state (and the template) will continue to set the secondary=true flag in the honor_header, and the main page of the honor will not. That way, this one will be counted once instead of 52 times (main page, 50 states, and the template). --[[User:Jomegat|Jomegat]] 22:13, 8 August 2014 (EDT) | ::Thanks. Structure of This Honor
I wonder if this honor should be structured in a manner similar to Christian Citizenship, where we have a template, and then each state has its own page. The "main" page of the honor could list all the states with links to answers for that state. In both honors, the requirements are identical, but the answers for each place vary. --Jomegat 21:29, 8 August 2014 (EDT)
- I see the work you've done and I believe this is the best way to do it. The columns with the different names of states is excellent and will prevent clutter from the main page of the honor. w126jep 22:07, 8 August 2014 (EDT)
- Thanks. If/when we decide to include the conference honors in the counting logic, the pages for each state (and the template) will continue to set the secondary=true flag in the honor_header, and the main page of the honor will not. That way, this one will be counted once instead of 52 times (main page, 50 states, and the template). --Jomegat 22:13, 8 August 2014 (EDT)
District of Columbia
I do not believe the District of Columbia belongs here. The honor specifically deals with those territories which have been deemed states (have a star on the flag, represented in the Senate, etc.). If the District of Columbia is included, we might as well include Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands. None of these are states and the honor deals specifically with states. While D.C. is inside the continental U.S. and is the capital of the country, it still does not qualify as a state. Any thoughts before I delete the entry? --w126jep 11:40, 2 September 2014 (EDT)
- I was thinking the same thing, but left it alone. I'd like to hear from JadeDragon before removing it. --Jomegat 12:50, 2 September 2014 (EDT)
- I am not hung up one way or another, but a pathfinder in DC can't complete the honor for his/her own location.
Where to get info?
I've placed internet sources for some of the more obscure info on the main State Study page, A person can just count churches, schools and hospitals off the NAD site, but how about:
1. SDA Membership in the state 2. Pathfinders in the state
In most cases SDA Conf ("regional" and geographic) do not follow state lines. The only way I can see to gather the answers to these questions is to call each of about 50 conference offices, ask for their data broken down by state (not how they gather it likely), and build a spreadsheet to add together the data from each office by state (for example there are 3 conferences in Texas and two span more than 1 state). If every pathfinder did that even to earn the honor for 1 state, a lot of admin time would be burned. - I wouldn't worry about finding all that information for the wiki, as it would be a never-ending task. This is information that changes every day, so gathering it at one point in time would be next to meaningless. It would be much better to have the answer book tell PFs how to find that info. In other words, do exactly what you have done. --Jomegat (talk) 18:48, 4 October 2014 (EDT)
- Ya I get that telling them how to find it is really good - I am just challenging the requirement's wisdom/logic and/or seeking a way to find the information easily - which I think means calling/emailing multiple conferences to complete the honor. The static stuff like the state tree is good as a reference for instructors. JadeDragon (talk) 00:16, 5 October 2014 (EDT)
