Picjuice is an extremely basic and smlpiy photo editing application. It has only 7 buttons, and in turn only 7 uses really. If your just starting in the photo editing field, this can be a useful tool to understand the basic concepts. It can also be used to quickly adjust an image to integrate it into your own projects in a snap. The fact that it is very basic can be a good thing because most people get extremely over whelmed if they open up a professional photoshop application with all of its bells and whistles. It is also free and requires no downloading. However, most computers already have this sort of tool already installed, although a little more complex, it can still get the job done. If you are in a pinch and don't have any editing tools at hand, i think Picjuice is a perfect tool for quick and simple modifications.Although, because of its simplicity, it is very limited in its abilities. I will restate that it only has 7 buttons. If you want to drastically change a picture (like highlighting, burning, filtering, stamping, and blurring), then Picjuice will not suffice.

Requirement 2b

Journal your thoughts by asking questions such as:

  • “What did I learn about God?”
  • “What did I learn about myself?”
  • “How can I apply this to my life today?”
  • "What in this text is meaningful to me?"
  • "What is the theme in these verses?"

You may journal through writing, drawing, or electronic process.

The questions are to be asked in relation to the Bible texts read in Requirement 2a. The point of having the Pathfinder answer these questions is to encourage him think about the text in a way that he may not have before. It is easier than we like to admit to read a long passage and not even think about it. Journaling should help prevent this.

How the journaling is done should be left to the Pathfinder.

Writing

Some people are more comfortable writing things down. This can be done with a pencil (or pen) and paper in a notebook, in a diary, on a word processor, or even on a blog or social network posting.

Drawing

Some children do not like to write and will resist it mightily. For such children, the thought of not being invested in not likely to be an effective motivator. They may prefer to illustrate the concepts instead, and that is a valid way for them to journal their thoughts.

Electronic Process

The Pathfinder may choose to write his journal entries in a word processor, a blog, or a social network. While these may be considered either writing or an "electronic process," there are other options available. For instance, Pathfinders may wish to make an audio or video recording of their thoughts. If they have the equipment, this should be encouraged. If they are not comfortable sharing the material with the club, do not force them to.

Requirement 3

Memorize the AY Motto.

The AY Motto is simple:

The Love of Christ Compels Me

The motto itself is taken from 2 Corinthians 5:14.

This motto explains the reasons we serve the Lord. It is not because in doing so we ensure our salvation, as we cannot be saved by our own works. It is rather because we love Christ because of what He has done for us. We want others to experience the same love and enter into a saving relationship with Him as we have.

Many people in the secular world experience a similar phenomenon when they fall in love with a musician or a video game - it's all they want to talk about. They share the music or recount their exploits on the video game with anyone who will listen. Similarly, we share the love of Jesus with anyone who will listen, because our hearts are so full with what He has done for us.

Requirement 4

Illustrate the meaning of the AY Motto in an interesting way.

An illustration is something that clarifies or proves a point. Its literal meaning is "to cast light upon." Jesus illustrated many truths through His parables - stories which helped people to understand His message. The requirement to illustrate the meaning of AY Motto is an opportunity for the Pathfinders to use their imaginations. There are many approaches to illustration, including:

  • Art projects
    • Drawing
    • Painting
    • Diorama
    • Sculpture
    • Comic book
    • Collage
    • Poster
  • Drama
    • Skit
    • Movie
    • Puppet show
    • Mime play (silent acting with narration or music)
  • Other
    • Photography slide show
    • Sign Language
    • PowerPoint or compatible multimedia presention
    • Blog post with text and pictures
