2. Name the state and the year it joined the union.
Rhode Island became a state on the 29th of May of 1790, the 13th state to join the Union.
3. Draw or find a picture of the following:
a. State flower
The Rhode Island state flower is the Violet (Viola sororia).
b. State bird
The Rhode Island state bird is the Rhode Island Red Chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus).
c. State tree
The Rhode Island state tree is the Red Maple (Acer rubrum).
d. State animal
Rhode Island has no official state animal. The state bird is sometimes named as the state animal as well.
e. State flag

The Rhode Island state song is "Rhode Island, It's For Me" (by Charlie Hall and Maria Day, arranged by Kathryn Chester)
