Given the value of the Wikibooks community, it is encouraged for seasoned Wikibookians to welcome new users with this template, which lists some useful links and conventions that are often helpful to new users.

Usage

Place {{subst:bigwelcome|~~~~}} on the user's talk page (not the user page itself) to sign it.

There are no rules as to when to welcome new users. Generally, they should have some valid edits (not just their own user- or talk page). At the same time, welcoming users who have been with the project for a while could be taken as a disrespectful hint that they don't understand the project.
