Florida became a state on the 3rd of March of 1845, the 27th state to join the Union. It was the final major act by President John Tyler before his succession by James K. Polk the following day.

Florida has a state song and a state anthem, due to the racial lyrics of the state song. The state song is "Old Folks at Home" and the state anthem is "Florida, Where the Sawgrass Meets the Sky." The motto is "In God We Trust."

Florida includes two conferences. Elected in 2003, the Florida Conference president is Michael F. Cauley. The Southeastern Conference president is Hubert J. Morel, Jr.

The Florida Conference office is located in Winter Park. The Southeastern Conference office is located in Mount Dora.

11. How many of the following does the SDA denomination have in this state?

a. Churches

As of 2012, there are 197 SDA churches in the Florida Conference and 142 SDA churches in the Southeastern Conference.

b. Schools

As of 2014, there are 23 SDA schools in the Florida Conference and 15 SDA schools in the Southeastern Conference.

c. Hospitals

As of 2014, there are 17 hospitals in Florida.

d. Members

As of 2014, there are 61,487 SDA members in the Florida Conference and 46,019 SDA members in the Southeastern Conference.
