What was the impact of the early church’s response to epidemics/plagues on the spread of Christianity and society at the time?

During various plagues, Christians risked their own health and safety and chose to stay in the cities and to care for the sick. Explore the care that early Christians extended to those who were sick and how it impacted how others thought of them. Give some examples of these acts of kindness and explain how they followed Christ’s example of healing.

Divide into small groups and each group read and discuss one of the following quotes from Ellen G. White. Share with the larger group what you learned about the importance of creating places (called sanitariums at the time) where people could receive care and healing.

Name at least four early Adventist pioneers and health reformers who supported the Adventist church’s health and medical work. Create a game to share with others to learn about the early Adventist health ministry.

Discuss within a group various ways the healing legacy of Jesus influenced the Adventist church’s focus on health and healing. Demonstrate one of these ideas.

7.

Create a large map illustrating and displaying the size and impact of the Adventist health organizations around the world today.

8.

Complete the following:

a.

Provide the names of five Adventist health organizations and where they are located.

b.

Compare and contrast an Adventist health organization in a developed nation and a developing nation.

c.

Where can you study a health career in an Adventist university? Name the schools and where they are located.

Take part in a health outreach opportunity with your church and share your experience through a display for your church and/or give a five-minute presentation to a group.
