Overview

Ready to level up from simply drawing pictures to becoming a serious artist? This honor challenges you to experiment with different art materials, study famous artists, and create drawings that show perspective, depth, shading, creativity, and personal expression. It's all about becoming more than someone who can draw—it's about becoming an artist. You'll experiment, study great artists, master light and shadow, create large-scale artwork, and learn to see the beauty of God's creation as inspiration for your own artistic journey.

The Challenging Part

The most challenging requirement of this honor is probably this:

6. Choose one of the subjects in requirement 2, and create a drawing at least 12 x 18” in pencil. Concentrate on good perspective and depth. Then, using pencil, shade in your work with a minimum of 6-8 changes in value. Be sure to sign your work. When finished, display your work in a public venue.
