AY Honor Trout Fishing - Advanced Requirements
1. Complete the Trout Fishing - 1 Honour.
2. History of Fly Fishing: Research and present a brief history of fly fishing. Include information on the origins of fly fishing and the development of fly tying techniques.
3. Types of Flies: Identify and describe at least three main types of flies used in trout fishing. Include information on dry flies, wet flies, and nymphs.
4. Fly Tying
- a. Fly Tying: Research and find instructions on how to tie at least three different types of flies. Include step-by-step instructions for tying a dry fly, a wet fly, and a nymph.
- b. Fly Tying Workshop: Participate in a fly tying workshop. Spend at least two hours tying flies and learning about different fly tying materials and techniques.
5. Fish in the Bible: Using a concordance look up verses through the bible that reference fish. Analyse them and look for themes, put together 3-4 paragraphs on what you found and discuss as a group.
6. Practice Casting: Practice casting with a fly rod. Set up targets and work on your accuracy and technique. Spend at least two hours practicing casting.
7. Fieldwork: Participate in a trout fishing excursion using only flies. Spend at least 3-4 hours fishing in a local river, lake, or stream. Record your experience and the types of trout caught in your workbook/notebook.
