So we have a decent amount of outdated insignia on this page, with which I am pretty pleased. However, due to so many, it now seems pretty cluttered. I am going to brainstorm and see if there is a more visually appealing or user friendly way to present this page. Maybe with the use of thumbnails or something. Any ideas are welcome! --w126jep (talk) 18:41, 23 September 2018 (EDT) | So we have a decent amount of outdated insignia on this page, with which I am pretty pleased. + | I was thinking about renaming this section from "Retired Insignia" to "Outdated Insignia". "Retired" sounds as if it was once the official version and then replaced. That is true for many of these cases, but some of them are misprints or errors. I think "Outdated" encompasses these categories better, as it simply means "no longer in use" or "not in circulation", regardless of the reason. --w126jep (talk) 14:24, 10 May 2019 (EDT) |

Drawing and Painting
I have the old version of this honor, where it was combined. it was recently split into the Drawing (and Advanced) and Painting (And Advanced) honors. I'll upload a pic of it tomorrow. I do believe the design is still used one of the new (separated) honors. I'll see what else I might have that has old designs. Bluescifiworm (talk) 23:15, 14 June 2016 (EDT)
New Layout
So we have a decent amount of outdated insignia on this page, with which I am pretty pleased. However, due to so many, it now seems pretty cluttered. I am going to brainstorm and see if there is a more visually appealing or user friendly way to present this page. Maybe with the use of thumbnails or something. - I think t would be easier to use if it were laid out on a grid with nothing but the image and the name. Clicking on the image would take you to the image page, and all the notes could be moved there. I'd also be inclined to arrange them first by shape, and then by background color. --Jomegat (talk) 14:14, 24 September 2018 (EDT)
- That is an excellent idea, to sort them by shape and color. It makes sense, since people might be looking for a patch and they would look by appearance, instead of by name. New Patches
I had an acquaintance recently visit Dixie and Arnold's traveling history museum and he was able to take quite a few pictures of some of the older honor versions. There's still a few more, but those are the diamond-shaped ones that were originally taught at summer camps. Just thought I'd mention where I'm getting these images from. --w126jep (talk) 21:02, 5 December 2018 (EST)
Renaming of category
I was thinking about renaming this section from "Retired Insignia" to "Outdated Insignia". "Retired" sounds as if it was once the official version and then replaced. That is true for many of these cases, but some of them are misprints or errors. I think "Outdated" encompasses these categories better, as it simply means "no longer in use" or "not in circulation", regardless of the reason. --w126jep (talk) 14:24, 10 May 2019 (EDT)
