Talk:Adventist Youth Honors Answer Book/Outreach/es

From Pathfinder Wiki

I'm in the process of translating the ADRA and ACS honors. How do I get them to show up in the "Outreach/es" page? --w126jep (talk) 20:31, 5 December 2014 (EST)

In the translations, make sure you add them to the category Honor_index/es is looking for them in - for ADRA, they need to be in Category:Adventist Youth Honors Answer Book/ADRA. For ACS, Honor_index/es is looking for them in Category:Servicios Comunitarios Adventistas. If that doesn't do it... let me know. --Jomegat (talk) 20:56, 5 December 2014 (EST)
I changed the ACS_Honor/es template, so it will add the /es honors to Category:Servicios Comunitarios Adventistas. We'll see though. --Jomegat (talk) 21:15, 5 December 2014 (EST)
Well... they're still not showing up. As far as I can tell, the ACS/es honors are in all the right categories, so Honor_index/es should be picking them up. Maybe the database needs to catch up. I'll check again tomorrow and see if anything has changed. --Jomegat (talk) 21:28, 5 December 2014 (EST)
OK, found it. Honor_desc/es Honor_index/es predefines the cat1 argument as saying that the honor has to be in the Primary category. None of the Spanish versions are. So they should override cat1 (which I just did). It's a bit messy - sorry. If I can think of a way to make this easier, I will jump right on it. --Jomegat (talk) 21:33, 5 December 2014 (EST)
I think I understood how it should work. I'll work some more on it this weekend. Thanks! -- w126jep (talk) 21:38, 5 December 2014 (EST)
Actually, we should change Honor_index/es to not pre-populate cat1 with anything. --Jomegat (talk) 21:56, 5 December 2014 (EST)
Nevermind - cat1 is not part of the translation (and it should not be). Non-English uses of Honor_index should always start with cat1=whatever (which overrides the default). --Jomegat (talk) 22:00, 5 December 2014 (EST)

I've made more changes. Template:ACS_Honor can now tell if the page that is including it is a translation (including to English), or if it's the source page. If it's the source page, it adds the page to Category:ACS Honor/Primary. Otherwise, it adds it to "ACS Honor/lang". I also made Plantilla: Especialidad de Servicios Comunitarios Adventistas do the same thing. This fixes the counts (the /en pages had been slipping into the counts, and now they're not), and makes things a little easier for me to keep straight. --Jomegat (talk) 22:55, 5 December 2014 (EST)

I remember you mentioned how to fix the alphabetical listings using a sort key in the honor_desc/es, but I can't seem to figure it out. The ACS honors are being alphabetized by their English names instead of their Spanish names in the /es version. I imagine the same will happen when I put up the ADRA honors. How do I get them to alphabetize in Spanish? --w126jep (talk) 13:42, 8 December 2014 (EST)

Something else I just realized, the ACS honors are being included into the Outreach category, whereas in English they are excluded since they go to the separate category below. Don't know how to get it out. I think, again, it has to do something with the honor_desc/es sort key. --w126jep (talk) 18:13, 8 December 2014 (EST)
Good catch. I changed the index generation specification to exclude ACS Honor/es. --Jomegat (talk) 18:48, 8 December 2014 (EST)

Alphabetized list of Spanish ACS Honors

So about two years ago we were trying to fix the alphabetization of the Spanish ACS honors and I guess we just got distracted. I am still not certain how to fix it, but I think the problem lies in that the sort key is defaulting to Category:ACS Honor/Primary. It is the only thing different that I can see from any other category in the wiki. I am not sure if I need to translate the Primary page for it to work or not. If I do, I am afraid it would mess up the counts. Thoughts or ideas? -- w126jep (talk) 17:48, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
