1. Read or Listen to the book Steps to Christ or Steps to Christ Youth Edition and submit a one-page response focusing on the benefits of your reading.

If you do not have a copy of Steps to Christ, you may be able to borrow one from your church library or from another member, or buy a copy at your local Adventist Book Center (ABC). You can also order a copy online from the ABC.

If you'd rather listen to it, you can stream audio recordings from Truth for the End of Time.

Even if you have already read this book, you should read it again before writing your one-page response. Good questions to answer in your response include

  • What did I learn?
    • About Christ?
    • About myself?
    • About reaching others?
  • How has this book changed me?

2. Complete the devotional guide “Encounter Series I, Christ the Way”, or complete another year long Bible reading plan that covers the four Gospels and read The Desire of Ages or Humble Hero.

Encounter Series I, Christ the Way is a year long reading plan that goes through the four Gospels and The Desire of Ages, but any reading plan that covers this material in a year will be fine.

The Encounter I reading plan is available at AdventSource. If you do not have a copy of The Desire of Ages, you may be able to get one from your church library, order one from the Adventist Book Center, or borrow one from another church member.

3. Do one of the following:

a. Keep a devotional journal for at least four weeks, summarizing what you learned in your devotional time and outlining how you are growing in your faith.

If you are leading a group of Pathfinders through the Investiture Achievement curricula, you can read the same Weekly Devotional Guide as your class, and share your journal with them (see the Personal Growth section of any IA class). This not only provides you with valuable insight into what your class is experiencing, but also sets a good example for them and teaches them how to journal themselves.

You can also write your journal entries as you go through the Encounter I series, or with any other devotional you may be using.

Journaling can be done digitally, or with good old-fashioned paper and pen.

b. Complete the Steps to Discipleship Personal Spirituality Curriculum.

You can download a copy of this from the General Conference Youth Ministries Department.

4. Earn the Pathfinder Evangelism Award.

See the Pathfinder Evangelism Award page for details.
